2024 NFL Preseason Projections (Updated - 8/26)
The above link (Google sheet) in yellow connects the depth charts and projections for all 32 teams. The content is restricted to paid subscribers, who must request access to view it. I will overwrite this document when making any future updates. Note: This document has been updated for all 32 teams, and I tightened up the overall projections for each team. Any changes going forward will come from injuries, coach-speak, and camp news.
For anyone not subscribed, I would appreciate your support. I’m a fantasy player doing research to play in the high-stakes market, with the goal of winning an overall prize. I’m sharing my view of the player pool along the way while also relying on my experience to build my teams and, hopefully, yours. Unfortunately, I tend to be a shove-all-in guy, meaning when I’m right, I should have many good teams rather than a one-out dart if I used more diversity in my game plan.
Also, there is a world beyond the Emails on my website (Fantasy Analyst). I’ve been posting articles on baseball and football for over a year. It’s much easier to jockey through information there.
Arizona Cardinals
The NFL suspended Zay Jones for five games for his off-the-field incident last October. I flipped his projections with Greg Dortch, who had been getting better summer press about his 2024 opportunity.
Carolina Panthers
Jonathan Brooks hasn’t been placed on the PUP list, suggesting he’ll return quicker than I expected. I bumped up his outlook by a couple of games, putting on pace to see game action in Week 3. Carolina will rotate in a second back until Brooks regains his form. As a result, I downgraded Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders slightly.
Denver Broncos
When reviewing the Broncos’ wide receiver corps earlier today. I double-checked my thoughts on Tim Patrick because Rotowire ranked him second on their depth chart. His two 50-catch seasons in 2021 and 2022 stood out, but he missed two consecutive years with injuries. I gave him a minimal opportunity this year and drafted many shares of Marvin Mims (big play upside) and Troy Franklin (played with Bo Nix in college), with the idea that one of the two would emerge as a useful wide receiver option in 2024. I didn’t make any changes to Denver’s projections for their wideout. The Broncos also floated out that they would be moving on from Samaje Perine, but I will wait for the ball to drop before adjusting their backs.
Detroit Lions
The Lions released Donovan Peoples-Jones on Monday, leaving them with a weaker combination of WR3/WR4 options this season. Jamerson Williams gains the most in this transaction. My projections were already trailing the market on his outlook due to him being their fourth option in the passing game. Williams jumped about 13 spots in my latest update of the wide receiver rankings.
Dallas Cowboys
All systems have hit the go sign for CeeDee Lamb after signing a four-year deal with the Cowboys for $136 million with $100 million guaranteed. Brandin Cooks remains limited in practice with knee issues. Dallas doesn’t expect him back for a couple of days due to a personal issue.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers' RB2 role is in flux, with AJ Dillon battling a knee issue and MarShawn Lloyd continuing to be sidelined with a hamstring injury. The Packers want Lloyd to win their backup role, but he will miss sometime early in the year. I downgraded Dillon slightly due to his recent injury.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs decided to sign JuJu Smith-Schuster for wide receiver depth after New England released him. His size (6’1” and 215 lbs.) helps Kansas City’s blocking game, but he won’t be fantasy-relevant based on his recent play and the current structure of the Chiefs’ wide receiving corps. I handed him their WR4 opportunity, with Kadarius Toney getting kicked to the wide receiver curb in this offense.
New England Patriots
Javon Baker looks to be passed over by Tyquan Thornton on the Patriots’ wide receiver depth chart. I followed suit in this week’s update.
Philadelphia Eagles
The acquisition of Jahan Dotson added more firepower to an already exciting offense. This week, I stole some chances away from Dallas Goedert and restructured the bottom three wideouts in this offense.
Washington Commanders
The trade of Jahan Dotson led to me revamping the wide receiver stats for all options behind Terry McLaurin. I didn’t shift any chances to the running back or tight end positions. This passing offense has a wide range of outcomes this year, making it challenging to find the hidden gems at wide receiver. Dyami Brown has the inside track as the home run hitter in the deep passing game, while Jamison Crowder has a reasonable NFL resume to earn possession-type targets. Luke McCaffrey is the wild card option that should emerge as the season progresses.
