2023 NFL Rosters, Depth Charts, and Projections (8/7)
2023 NFL Rosters, Depth Charts, and Projections (8/7)
I’ve granted access to all paid subscribers. If I missed someone, please Email me, and I’ll update this list. The projections will get updated once a week (more over the latter half of August), but I don’t expect any significant changes before training camp unless some of the top free agents sign or there is a substantial injury before August.
Arizona Cardinals
· Another week has gone by with no news on the health of Zach Ertz. His stock continues to slide in drafts, giving Trey McBride gaining an upgrade in his projects this week despite some minor injuries.
· Kyler Murray remains on the PUP list with no clear update on his availability for Week 1. I still have him missing at least one game in 2023.
· Keaontay Ingram picked up an abdomen, putting him on the sideline for a couple of days. Arizona signed Marlon Mack this week to compete for the backup job. I bump him to RB3 based on his experience in the NFL. I downgraded Ingram slightly and added a receiving touchdown to James Conner.
· Marquise Brown has been limited in practice this week with minor issues.
Atlanta Falcons
· Bijan Robinson started to move up in drafts over the past seven days in the high-stakes markets after some exciting clips from practice last week. He now has an ADP in front of Austin Ekeler and Cooper Kupp (after his injury).
· Kyle Pitts started running routes vs. defenders in early August, giving some hope that he’ll play in September. If he suits in the preseason, I’ll bump up his current low projections.
Baltimore Ravens
· J.K. Dobbins remains missing in action while looking for a contract extension. There has been an update on his injury that landed him on the PUP list (7/21).
· Rashod Bateman has yet to practice with his foot issues, but he appears to be making progress. I’ll wait another week before downgrading him.
Buffalo Bills
· No changes or updates
Carolina Panthers
· No changes or updates
Chicago Bears
· Sensing the direction of Justin Fields and that I have him under projected, I upped his playing time to 94% from 90%, along with an increase in his completion rate (64), passing touchdowns (22), and yards per pass attempt (7.4). His changes on the receiving side most rewarded Chase Claypool, whom I had rated low due to some injury concerns.
Cincinnati Bengals
· There has been no update on Joe Burrow over the past week.
· Trayveon Williams picked up an ankle injury on August 4th, landing him in a walking boot.
Cleveland Browns
· Jerome Ford left practice on Monday with a hamstring issue.
· In the first preseason game, Demetric Felton led the Browns’ running backs with 55 combined yards, one score, and two catches on nine touches.
Dallas Cowboys
· Deuce Vaughn continued to make plays in training camp. Despite being undersized, he appears to be the top handcuff to Tony Pollard in early August.
Denver Broncos
· The Broncos stated that Javonte Williams would see some action in their second preseason game, setting the stage for him to push higher in drafts.
· Marvin Mims has been removed from the injury report after battling a hamstring issue in late July.
Detroit Lions
· The reports on Sam LaPorta are trending upward, leading to a nice bump in his projections this week. Based on his direction, he looks to be the third option in the passing game behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs.
Green Bay Packers
· The Packers’ fans are starting to get giddy about the progress of Jordan Love this summer. Here’s a look at his passes from an open scrimmage in Green Bay on family night.
Houston Texans
· Dalton Schultz has been removed from the injury report.
· The quickness of John Metchie and Nathaniel Dell should be a big win for C.J. Stroud in his rookie season.
Indianapolis Colts
· There has been no update on Jonathan Taylor over the past week.
· The Colts added Kenyan Drake for running back depth.
Jacksonville Jaguars
· No significant issues have been reported over the past week.
Kansas City Chiefs
· Skyy Moore made a nice catch and run on Monday, fueling his rising ADP.
· Don’t sleep on Rashee Rice being a viable starting piece to a fantasy team in 2023.
Las Vegas Raiders
· There is no update on Josh Jacob’s contract holdout, but I saw a blurb that some teams were interested in acquiring him via a trade.
Los Angeles Chargers
· The only thing lacking in Quentin Johnson's game is opportunity. I view him as the handcuff to Mike Williams with a big-play WR3 role in the Chargers’ offense.
Los Angeles Rams
· Cooper Kupp suffered a hamstring issue on August first, creating a slide in his ADP in fantasy drafts. The Rams don’t expect to see him on the field for a while, but he should be ready to play in Week 1.
Miami Dolphins
· The fantasy market may have to pump the brakes on De’Von Achane for leaving practice on Saturday with an unknown injury. His stock was rising before his setback.
Minnesota Vikings
· After exiting practice last Thursday, there hasn’t been an update on the health of Alexander Mattison.
· The Vikings signed N’Keal Harry for wide receiver depth.
New England Patriots
· No significant issues have been reported over the past week.
New Orleans Saints
· The NFL suspended Alvin Kamara for three games, giving drafters some clarity on his return to game action. I actually upgraded his projections, as I had him out for six games in last week’s update.
· Michael Thomas continued to be discounted in drafts, but he does look healthy so far in training camp.
· Rashid Shaheed and Tre’Quan Smith picked up a groin injury on Monday, putting him on the sidelines for most of August. A.T. Perry is the player rewarded with snaps in the preseason who I already had projected as the Saints’ WR3.
New York Giants
· Jalin Hyatt continued to gain momentum in training camp. I still view him as the Giants’ best wide receiver in 2023.
· Sterling Shepard is a fan of Darren Waller.
New York Jets
· Without an update on Breece Hall, I tapered back his projection this week.
· Garrett Wilson continues to have an ankle issue, but New York expects him back soon.
· Can Aaron Rodgers make Corey Davis fantasy relevant? His price point is free, and the dartboard is within range of hitting.
Philadelphia Eagles
· No significant issues have been reported over the past week.
Pittsburgh Steelers
· No significant issues have been reported over the past week.
Seattle Seahawks
· Surprisingly, Zach Charbonnet had a quick recovery from his shoulder injury. The first report from Seattle suggested he would be out for a while.
· Kenneth Walker remains limited with a groin issue, and Kenny McIntosh picked up a knee spring on Sunday.
San Francisco 49ers
· Last week, Elijah Mitchell left practice with an adductor strain (groin area). The 49ers expect him back shortly.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
· Kyle Trask has outplayed Baker Mayfield so far in training camp.
Tennessee Titans
· No significant issues have been reported over the past week.
Washington Commanders
· Logan Thomas has been battling a calf issue over the past week.
